CONCILIUM: Portuguese Black Metal Death-Cult Announce Immense Third Album "Sky Bvrial" - Track Premiered at Last Rites.

Welcome to the Sky Burial (Tibetan: བྱ་གཏོར་), the ancient Himalayan ritual burial dating back to centuries of the Tibetan Buddhism tradition of taking the bodies of the deceased amongst the highest peaks to be dismembered and consumed at sacred burial grounds by vultures and other scavenging animals, and then dissolved by the high altitude elements, or as the tradition states, to be returned to the sky. What may seem a brutal or savage practice to western eyes in reality is a revered and elitarian burial in ancient Himalayan culture, and this concept borrowed by Portuguese black metal nekromancers Concilium for their immense third offering "Sky Bvrial" has laid the foundations for an absolute beast of an album and for one of the most otherworldly and death-scarred extreme metal releases of the year.

Foreshadowing the album’s gruesome birth is an exclusive advance track premiere of the track “From the Moon to the Mountain” by reputable underground metal blog Last Rites, who in introducing the death-crushing track have remarked how “Sky Bvrial, feels like an embrace of the crude death worship of Beherit reaching for a further, more reverent understanding of the violence and transcendence of what we so arrogantly call The End.“ - you can checkout the track and their feature HERE.

Truly immense in its scope and vision, just like the death ritual it recounts and evokes, "Sky Bvrial" channels the omnipotence and darkness of death through a majestic lens of transcendence, ritualism and contemplative reverence toward the power of nature and of the immortality of ancient lore. The nauseating stench of death emanates from every knit and fabric of this beastly record, as the black flame of highly atmospehric sepulchral black metal bands like Demoncy, Teitanblood, and Beherit is re-ignited to conjure visions of a churning, monstrous vortex of rotting dismembered flesh levitating towards heaven, and taken skyward to be returned to the afterlife by massive carnivorous scavenging birds. A truly unparalleled and moving listening experience conjured through seven primeval slabs of merciless, crushing neckromantik black metal counterbalanced by tremendously enveloping sepulchral atmospherics and contemplative dirges of transcendence.

While a new band, Concilium are bastions of the Portuguese musical underworld, with main member/songwrtier N. and collaborators Vulturius and Occelensbrigg having years of experience in shaping their country’s small but thriving underground to what it is today, through various campaigns and collaborations over the years that have established them as corner pieces to their scene across the rise and fall of many obscure Portuguese black and death metal bands, existing and defunct, old and new. N. forged his talents and visions in such Portuguese aural plagues like Summon and Hate Propaganda, and Concilium is his brainchild and outlet to an inner underworld dominated by hallucinations of finality, agony, and hopelessness. Handling all songwriting, composition, artwork (under the Belial Necroarts banner), and guitars and vocals during recording, N. is then joined in the project’s final recording stages of the studio setting by Vulturius handling drums (Irae, Kommando Baphomet, Necrobode, Morte Incandescente and many more) and by Occelensbrigg on bass, thus completing the circle of Concilium’s sound: a nightmarish trip into the pits of hell where the historic sounds of violent and apocalyptic bands like Pseudogod, Blasphemy, Proclamation and Beherit are deconstructed and pulverized, whipped into a new spectral and decaying shape by heavy doses of decrepit and agonizing raw/depressive black metal and submerged into aphotic and subterranean realms with a masterful texturing of sulphureous atmospheres and diseased esoteric dirges.

V:XII: One-Man Swedish Black/Death Industrial Adversary Announces Crushing Sophomore Album "LU-CIPHER-SABBATEAN" - Track Premiered at ReGen Magazine.

We’re proud to announce “LU-CIPHER-SABBATEAN”, the blood-freezing second full-length album from Swedish black/death industrial beast V:XII (pronounced and read "Five Twelve") a magistral work which adds a new urgency and dimension to the infamous underworld of Scandinavian evil martial dark ambient/industrial made famous by the legendary legacy of Cold Meat Industry and affiliated acts like Brighter Death Now, Mz.412, etc., and later, by its contemporary bastions like Nordvarg and Trepaneringsritualen.

The release has been presented by legendary industrial outlet ReGen Magazine via an exclusive track premiere of the song “Cyclic Saturnial”, stating that “drawing sonically on the traditions laid down by Cold Meat Industry and affiliated acts, the track is an aural representation of the theory of reptilian beings enslaving humans through the subjugation of rational thought and instilling mass psychosis over many eons – a conspiratorial subject that echoes the wider scope of the LU-CIPHER-SABBATEAN album’s themes of religious and ritualistic power leading to a world drowned in darkness and dread.” - you can check out their premiere and stream the song HERE.

This crushing new opus is a grueling listening experience that for thirty six minutes imposes complete submission upon the listener, drawing them into a wretched realm of majestic, deconstructed electronics and into an infernal dimension of utter darkness and dread. Perverse, violent and hallucinatory in its every aspect, “LU-CIPHER-SABBATEAN” conjures a lightless abyss of paranoia and ritualized insanity, as it unfolds an ominous concept on the conspiratorial mind devolved into to its worst and most deteriorated form, the religious one. A sense of grim solemnity transpires from the album's ritualistic and almost liturgic pace, evoking a seething feeling of absolute evil as widescreen moments of abysmal dark ambience are violently lacerated by violent, spasmodic proclamations and by an onslaught of cold, bludgeoning martial rhythms and disembodied incantations.

The dark and obscure post-industrial bedlam of V:XII (pronounced and read “five twelve” - from Romans 5:12 of the New Testament) was first conceived in 2018 by long time Swedish experimental musician Daniel Jansson (also behind bands like Culted, Deadwood, Keplers odd etc), as a means to expand his dark sonic expression with a more beat-oriented and menacing approach to the Black/Death Industrial sub-genre compared to the more abstract and lengthy format of Deadwood. Taking inspiration from everything from Black Metal to Industrial bands spanning from Ministry, NIN and Skinny Puppy to Mz.412, Brighter Death Now and Trepaneringsritualen, Jansson started working on a new sonic canvas to summon an abhorrent and bludgeoning post-industrial specter of wretched incantations, crushing martial rhythmics and diseased ritualistic atmospheres. These bleak and perverse post-industrial conjurations conceived by Jansson soon began to assume a life of their own, deserving a dedicated project, and within a short period of time V:XII had became the main focus of Jansson. Thematically, V:XII examines and dissects both occult and political conspiracy theories, with an emphasis on the religious aspect of the conspiratorial mind. And with this conceptual backdrop to enhance and exalt the malevolence of the music V:XII started to grow into the entity it was meant to become. A punishing and disembodied sonic experience that must be suffered through to be appreciated. An auditory attack on the senses that bleeds you dry. The first album “Rom, Rune and Ruin” was released in 2020 and the self-released “CTRL” EP followed suit in 2021. V:XII’s monstrous new full-length album “LU-CIPHER-SABBATEAN” will see its wretched birth on Sentient Ruin Laboratories on April 21 2023 worldwide.

CH'AHOM: German Black/Death Metal Cult Issues Demos Cassette Tape Compilation - Full Stream and Pre-Orders Available Now. Debut EP and Full-Length Album Looming for Mid and Late 2023.

We’re proud to announce that German ritualistic black/death metal warlords Ch'ahom officially join Sentient Ruin, and to celebrate this unholy alliance we're proud to bring you the "Camazotz Cult" limited edition career-encompassing cassette tape compilation of the band's entire discography to this day, spanning all the band's long sold out demo tapes from 2016 to 2021, repackaged and remastered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios into a glorious one-hour long onslaught of total sonic savagery.

This vast and comprehensive restored retrospective both anticipates Ch'ahom's new era forthcoming (with the imminent release of their first official EP and first official full-length album which will follow shortly thereafter) and revisits the origins and existence so far of one of the most barbaric and animalistic entities to have appeared in the German extreme metal underground in recent years. The eighteen bludgeoning tracks here presented show us the band developing their sound and concept over a five-year span of cryptic obscurity, reworking the legendary warcraft of bestial black/death/grind legends like Beherit, Sadogoat, Blasphemy, Sarcófago and Proclamation into an occult and esoteric canvas exploring exotic ancient war cults and death rituals from pre-Columbian South and Central America. The end result is a gruesome terrorscape in which ancient visions of violence, ritualism, mysticism and bloodshed are joined into a ruthless aural assault of total black/death chaos and destruction. The feral aura and lawless primitivism seen on these tracks is further exalted by a raw and blown out production quality which has given a unique and appropriate character to the music through a methodic approach clearly descended from a punk and DIY culture which has vastly enhanced and characterized the superb vision and uniqueness behind the cult of Ch'ahom and its uncompromising craft.

Tracks 1-7 from the "The Raid of the Tzitzimime" demo tape (2016)
Tracks 8-10 from the "Oblation" demo tape (2016)
Tracks 11-13 from the "Path to Ixtab" demo tape (2018)
Tracks 14-18 from the "Lustfully Sinning for Death Metal" demo tape (2021)

"Camazotz Cult" is slated for an April 7 2023 official release date worldwide via Sentient Ruin, and both digital and cassette tape formats are now pre-order able via all our channels.

The origins of Ch'ahom can be traced as far back as 2016, when the band begun issuing a steady string of cryptic demo tapes in the German underground, up until 2021. During this time frame the band had displayed a blown out, raw and feral sound clearly worshipping bands like Von, Sadomator, Sadogoat, Beherit and other similar primitive black/death gods. These demos captured the eye of Sentient Ruin who made contact with the band right when a change in their sound and songwriting was happening and the ground for a glorious and genre-defying debut album was being prepared. Perfect timing. While the tracks from all these earlier demos are now remastered by Sentient Ruin for the 2023 “Camazotz Cult“ cassette tape restropective compilation here presented, the once simple, short and fast songs from the band’s early days are meanwhile giving way to new compositions stretching out into atmospheric lengths and being punctuated and exalted by the unique technicality, atmospheres and more slowed down paces reminiscent of iconic US and Finish Death Metal bands like Morbid Angel, Time Ghoul, Infester, Demilich, and Abhorrence, creating a masterful symbiosis between the animalistic violence from their origins and the band’s newfound sense of atmosphere and evocative musical storytelling of their present incarnation.

Far from ending there, Ch'ahom's music has begun showcasing also marked prog influences derived from the band's appreciation of 70's English bands like Yes and Camel. This multilayered evolution is now creating a sound that appears vast, relentless, and frenzy-like, almost bordering on insanity, as will be showcased on their upcoming mid-2023 debut EP “Ts'ono'ot”, a glorious, ten-minute single track prelude to the majestic carnage lurking ahead later in the year with the advent of their official debut full-length album for Sentient Ruin,“Knots of Abhorrence”. This outreach toward more complex and unpredictable composition is completed and complemented by the band's long running theme and subject matter, offering a glimpse into a parallel dimension beyond the purely musical material itself: lyrical themes, concepts, and aesthetics dealing with different prehispanic cultures, their rituals and their art. With their music dowsed in magick, blood, and violence, Ch'ahom try to establish a connection to a subconscious horror we all face in our lives, still to this day, that has been a driving force behind many mythical and mystical traditions that have originated throughout the centuries all around the globe. The accumulation of these influences make this Essen, Germany-based horde a far more complex and thought-provoking entity than the average goat-worshipping black/death band most of us are used to being accustomed with. Ch'ahom are a nightmare simulation, a terror emanating from deep below, screaming from the caverns in the earth in which humanity has hid for centuries from the powers beyond our rational understanding, emanating from the crevices in our super-ego that reveal a direct pathway to the urges we repress. Ch'ahom are the opposite of meditation, an endless onslaught of thoughts, wishes, dreams, fears, impossible to shut out, an overwhelming and maddening samsara.

NEKUS: German/Italian Blackened Death Doom Necromancers Announce Hideous Debut 2LP "Sepulchral Divination" - Track Premiered at No Clean Singing.

We’re proud to announce that German/Italian cave-dwelling sepulchral blackened death-doom primitives Nekus (formed by current and past members of Putridarium, Into Coffin, Hadit, Omnivore, and Bestial Warfare, among others) are about to emerge with their hideous debut 2LP "Sepulchral Divination", over fifty minutes of aphotic, downtuned subsonic horror emanating from the wretched bowels of the abyss.

Comparable in sheer ugliness and inhumanity to other slowed down sepulchral death and doom metal abominations like Grave Upheaval, Moss, Anatomia, and Encoffination, Nekus are conjurors of a lightless subterranean realm somewhere between the pits of hell and the center of the earth where existence may assume horrific forms at the edge of reason and where life as we know it is impossible. Indeed this monstrous, fifty-plus minute crawling nightmare of horrid, telluric mummified death doom is not something of the plane of being or of surface-dwelling, air-breathing and light-needing existence. Rather, a decomposing, lightless, sinkhole of putrefied sonic emanations opening an abyss unto the dimensions below the earth's crust, where eons of putrefaction, fossilization, gravitational crush depth and infernal magmatic upheaval perpetually beholds the inaccessible omnipotence of death and inexorably calls all surface life to it.

To coincide with the album’s announcement the track “Katabasis” has been revealed by No Clean Singing, with the metal blog stating that the band’s music sounds “horrifying and hopeless, supernatural and suffocating“ - you can checkout the feature and track HERE.

Nekus started in Marburg, Germany around 2018, emerging with a sepulchral and decaying bottom-caving sound blending black and death metal with crippling, slow-moving and insanely downtuned doom with a huge and crushing low end, reminiscent of bands like Moss, Grave Upheaval and Encoffination. The band’s horrific, rumbling and mummified sound first arose on the “Death Nova upon the Barren Harvest” debut EP issued in 2020 on all formats by Blood Harvest Records, and was soon followed by the “Malevolence Evocations” split CD with Impure Declaration, released the same year by Old Temple.

Indeed, Nekus’ bottom-heavy sepulchral sound not only is reminiscent in its mood and atmosphere to a trip deep into an aphotic and subterranean realm devoid of all light, but it is actually intentionally crafted so, and the band’s lyrics and concept also follow this theme of a harrowing trip deep below the earth’s crust where existence assumes horrific forms within caverns, crevices and magmatic chambers that constitute a mysterious antihuman realm away from any knowledge of mankind, and which over the centuries has established a consolidated narrative on the superstition of where “hell” actually resides: down below, in the caverns and abysses below the surface which inexorably call all life to it.

"Sepulchral Divination" is slated for an April 7 2023 release via Sentient Ruin on silkscreened 2LP, CD, MD and digital versions worldwide and all formats are now pre-orderable via all our channels.

PESTILENGTH: 2022 Sophomore Full-Length Album “Basom Gryphos“ from Hallucinatory Spanish Death Metal Cult Sees First Ever Release On Vinyl.

We’re proud and honored to announce the first ever - and much needed - vinyl version of one of 2022’s most accomplished and visionary underground death metal works, Pestilength’s massive sophomore full-length album “Basom Gryphos“, thirty six minutes of mutant death metal armageddon to disintegrate the fabric of reality, released in collaboration with Nuclear Winter Records for Europe.

Across it's synapse-obliterating eight songs "Basom gryphos" unfolds an infernal fractal of muted death metal forged from the same aberrant antimatter that birthed defining works by Morbid Angel (early Tucker-era particularly) and Immolation, revealing a shapeshifting, suffocating sonic hallucination conceived at the outer limits of death metal as we know it. The disfiguring dissonant black metal touches and disorienting atmospheres transposed from the band's origins persist in their framework, further exalting the band's deliriant penchant for total extreme metal surrealism, while the cryptic allomorphic symbolism and inverted anti-language that permeates the lyrics and song titles complete an alien extreme metal crucible of truly mind-altering enormity.

"Basom gryphos" was originally released in spring 2022 (on CD by Nuclear Winter Records and on cassette tape format by Nuclear Winter and Goat Throne Records), to critical acclaim, and the vinyl version is now available in the Americas from Sentient Ruin and in Europe via Nuclear Winter.

Cryptic black/death metal enigma Pestilength emerged in the Bilbao area of Spain’s Basque Region around 2019 by the will of mysterious drummer N, and of local and equally enigmatic guitarist/vocalist and abstract visual artist M.. The band initially self-released a string of raw, chaotic demos and singles of lo-fi inscrutable and demented domed black-death metal throughout 2019 and 200, generating considerable interest in the Spanish underground with their nebulous and murky sound churning with hallucinations ubound and reminescent of bands like Portal, Antediluvian or Impetuous Ritual. But the peculiar trait which instantly set Pestilgenth aside from its peers was the use of a mysterious and unseen form of presumably invented pseudolanguage the band used for their undecipherable lyrics and song titles. An aberrant and rarely before seen experiment in self-conceptualization blending deviant linguistics and abstract extreme metal, where the ritualistic deciphering of old English in unorthodox ways to create new allomorphs and lexical absurdities had become custom for the band to use as their own symbolism and iconography.

Meanwhile, through a refinement in production, the music was catching up to the outlandish and elaborate uniqueness of the band’s concept, brining a sharpening of the band’s sound which in turn brought forth a more intense and intricate approach to songwriting. The hazy dissonant murk from their beginnings was shed in favor of a more muscular and twisted form of dark mutant death metal which came to light with their 2020 debut album “Eilatik”, and furthermore sublimated and ascended to imposing heights on their masterful 2022 sophomore full-length album “Basom Gryphos”, a release which by now was placing Pestilgenth on the same reality-bending stylistic violence and hallucinatory intensity of bands like Immolation and Morbid Angel.

8 HOUR ANIMAL: American Harsh Industrial Metal / Power Electronics Subverter Announces Groundbreaking Sophomore Album “Kill Your Boss” - Track Premiered at Everything Is Noise.

We’re proud to announce the release of “Kill Your Boss” , the brand new album by Industrial Metal/Power Electronics insurgent 8 Hour Animal, which arrives almost two years after introducing the band to the masses via its 2021 debut offering “Resigner”.

“Kill Your Boss” has been introduced via underground transversal music blog Everything Is Noise via an exclusive stream of the track “Grind Down”, stating that the track “flourishes through destructive leanings, living up to its name fully by being a colossal wheel of noise grinding down everything on its path and pissing on the remaining fine powder, only to sculpt it into a dismal statue with serpentinous mile-long tentacles sprawling forth from where its head should be.” - you can check out the feature and track HERE.

With new full-length album "Kill Your Boss", the New York state-based solo artist subverter takes its concept of absolute abjection and rejection for society via violent, home made, aural deconstructionism to new reality-shattering heights. An onslaught of heavy rhythmics and cold sequences assaults the listener while concepts like societal alienation, industrial exploitation, rogue capitalism, and depersonalization through modern day slavery are driven home and pounded into the listener's mind through an escapable power electronics assault armored with a sheath of grinding guitars as thick as concrete. The souls of defining acts in the industrial legacy like Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Godflesh, Controlled Bleeding, :Wumpscut:, Wolf Eyes, Skullflower, Incapacitants, and Coil are reaped from the fabric of musical transformation and re-funneled into a violent dysmorphic mutation where all their extremities are exalted and an obsession with violence, nihilism and acts of self-destruction become the defining shaping medium of five long, immense, obsessive and bludgeoning anthems to the choice of non-existence in the face of servitude.

“Kill Your Boss” is slated for a March 17 2023 release on MC/digital formats worldwide via Sentient Ruin, with all formats now preorderable via all our channels.

8 Hour Animal emerged from the East coast in 2020 via a string of extremely limited home-dubbed tapes focused on abstract pummeling harsh noise wall and power electronics, but it was its debut album “Resigner” (released in 2021 via Sentient Ruin) which brought new focus and definition to the project, adding a whole new arsenal of tangible and iconic horrors to its hideous framework, as elements of classic industrial and metal made their way into band's sound taking it to a new realm of urgency and destructiveness. Written in complete loneliness and isolation 8 Hour Animal’s current sound fuses heavy grinding guitars with industrial percussion, caustic atmospherics, and walls of hateful hissing noise to paint a daunting modern design to complete self-annihilation. The lyrics dealing in self harm, despair, fear and deep self-hatred further define the self-projected sonic downfall that aims at representing the end of self, the quitting of life, the erasure of future, and the complete suppression of hope and happiness. Like its predecessor “Resigner”, “Kill Your Boss” is another harsh industrial weapon for complete self-elimination conceived to challenge and reject the reality of modern day first world spiritual and emotional slavery.

APHOTIC: Italian Dark Death/Doom Metal Oracle Announces Immense Debut Album "Abyss Gazer" - Track Premiered at Metal Injection.

We’re proud and honored to announce the imminent release of "Abyssgazer", the immense debut album by Italian atmospheric post-death/doom metal oracle Aphotic, to be released in late March 2023 in collaboration with our European comrades Nuclear Winter Records.

The four piece from northern Italy has set out to create the ultimate extreme metal calirvoyance into the death of our universe, through an audio, visual and conceptual experience of unparalleled evocative power. "Abyssgazer" represents a concept of ultimate finality doused in cosmological inevitability. A sound of world-building/destroying immensity shrouded in otherworldly dissonance and suffocating atmospherics. Visions of eons ahead, evoking the ultimate fate of matter and as such of existence.

Metal Injection has helped us announce the album with an exclusive premiere of the song “Cosmivore”, explaining that “Aphotic is here to devour everything within the cosmos thanks to their new single "Cosmivore." The single is from Aphotic's upcoming record Abyssgazer, which is probably named that due to the nothingness that'll ensue after the consumption of the universe.“ - you can read the full feature and check out the track HERE.

According to the eschatological tale and astrophysical prediction, the most absolute Omega possibly conceivable will materialize as aeons ahead, on timescales almost impossible to imagine, an inexorably inflating universe made only of exhausted and degenerate stellar remnants will reap apart the fabric of spacetime itself until matter will start decaying, and even every black hole singularity will be evaporated, due to quantum effects, into radiation emanating in nothingness. And so, as maximum entropy will be reached, time will become meaningless. In this frame, the album title-track reflects on how, in remote times and places, inert matter can shape into living beings, then evolve into sentient creatures who might become able to stare into the unknown and wonder about the true nature of time and space – by gazing into the abyss. The Abyssgazers, will become the self-consciousness of the Universe. Then come the medium: dark, imposing, colossal atmospheric death metal to disintegrate the fabric of perception, reality, and time itself, and to soundtrack the universe's last vision and final breath. A nebulous, churning cosmic abyss evoking the destruction of worlds through masterful sonic synthesis: the necromancing twisted dark death metal of Incantation and Immolation, the expansive and morphing storytelling of Triptykon, Neurosis, Evoken and Bolzer, and the suffocating coldness and dissonance of Godflesh. And finally, the visuals by Chilean abstract painter Rodrigo Pereira: an otherworldly vision unto the abyss sealing this eschatological journey towards the eons to come. Analog mixing meticulously crafted under the expertize of audio engineer Greg Chandler from Esoteric (Priory Recording Studios, UK) and mastering by Colin Marston from Gorguts etc. (The Thousand Caves Studio, NYC), complete an unheralded debut album of immense, imaginative, consciousness-expanding avant-garde death metal crafted to glorify and reimagine the immensity and inevitability of death far beyond this carnal plain.

Aphotic formed in 2020 in northern Italy from current and former members of bands like Fuoco Fatuo, Blasphemer, and Ekpyrosis with the intent of constructing world-building, deeply atmospheric death metal soundtracking a philosophical and eschatological concept revolving around the expansion and ultimate fate, and death, of our universe. The band's influences coming from death, black, doom and post-metal have enabled them to exalt this post-human concept and weave a multitude of moods and styles into a vast and abysmal canvas shrouded in dissonance and suffocating atmospherics.

The result of this vision is "Abyssgazer", planned as a joint March 24 2023 release on LP, CD and MC formats between Sentient Ruin (US) and Nuclear Winter Records for Europe.

ISOLANT: Obscure American Industrial Metal Acts Re-emerges for First New Music in Seven Years - "Drain" EP Pre-Orders Available and Track Premiered at No Echo.

We’re proud to announce the release of “Drain”, the new EP from American/international obscure industrial metal project Isolant, and the band's first new release of original material in over seven years since their defining self-titled 2015 debut demo tape.

Coinciding with the EP’s release announcement, notorious alternative and punk/metal blog NO ECHO has premiered the track “Inner Tomb” , commenting how “the trio were drawn together by their shared love for British industrial acts like Godflesh, Scorn, and Coil, to name a few. The percussive assault of Swans and doom metal have also been named as influences on the Isolant sound.” - you can check out the track and their feature HERE.

Formed by original member Max Furst (Malleus, The Watcher, ex-Morne) on guitars, bass and drum programming, and now rounded out by vocalist M. Alagna (Abstracter, Atrament, Ash Prison, Somnolent) and Spanish noisemaker M. Souto (Suspiral, Sepelio, S.E.K.H., Arkaik Excruciation, Excurse, ex-Bodybag), "Drain" sees the elusive experimental metal act fuse the cold and bleak industrial metal of acts like Spine Wrench, Godflesh, Scorn ("Vae Solis" era) and Skin Chamber with the atonal percussive grimness of early Swans, and the crawling heaviness and abysmal atmospherics of death-doom. Subtle stenchcore and crust influences permeate the work throughout, reaffirming the band's conceptual connection and stylistic affinity to a glorious age of British heavy punk and experimental metal that dominated 90's underground music. The result are 6 lightless tracks of misery-infused, death-worshipping, and spine-breaking downtuned crush-depth clad in enveloping atmospherics and scarred with an immanent sense of hopelessness and doom.

“Drain” is slated for a February 24 2023 release on limited edition cassette tape and digital formats worldwide via Sentient Ruin and pre-orders are now available via all our channels.

Isolant was formed in 2014 in Boston MA, by guitarist/bassist Max Furst, vocalist Mark Banfield, and noisemaker Robert Ferent. The band’s name was something Furst came up with as an attempt to personify the feeling of crushing isolation. A self-titled and self-released demo tape surfaced in 2015 brilliantly showcasing the band’s unique, dismal, and dark sound, but Isolant remained a studio only project which fell apart soon after as members parted ways due to personal and scheduling reasons. However, unreleased and incomplete demos were recorded by Furst for a planned followup to the demo tape which still contained final contributions by Ferent, but remained buried and unpublished for years in the wake of the band’s premature dissolution. Long time Isolant fan and Furst’s California-based friend and vocalist Mattia Alagna asked to review these demos. Impressed with the work, Alagna urged Furst to complete the recordings with himself on vocals, and the new partnership also lead to bringing on board Spanish noise-maker Miguel Souto to add further electronic touches to the then still incomplete tracks. The new EP, titled “Drain” was completed remotely by the new lineup during 2022 and then sent off to Will Killngsworth of Dead Air Studios to be mixed and mastered for a 2023 release via Sentient Ruin.
