NEGATIVE VORTEX

Envisioned by Brazilian death metal pioneer M. Feschner (former The Endoparasites), Negative Vortex conjures a modern take on the legacy and unrepeatable alchemy of the 90’s: the aggression and obscurity of 90’s Death Metal with the depth and despair of the early days of Doom Metal. In 2004, Feschner moved to California. and since then went through several bands before finally forming what would become Negative Vortex. After experimenting with different lineups, he decided to keep the band as a solo endeavor, and invited an old friend from Brazil, the producer, engineer and multi- instrumentalist Libra (solo artist, and former The Endoparasites) to produce, record, and mix the album. In 2020, after rearranging some old compositions which had previously appeared on the band’s 2015 debut demo tape (released by Caligari Records) and writing new material together, they officially started recording Negative Vortex’s debut album, “Tomb Absolute” at Libra’s studio (13Eighteen Studio, in Hollywood, California). A few months into production it became clear that Negative Vortex had become a creative partnership between the two, and before the album was fully mixed, what started as solo project, had already morphed into a stable official duo. Where Feschner brought to the table his raw and aggressive old school influences, (with gut wrenching fast riffs, and ultra-depressing slow-paced sections), Libra on the other hand filtered, updated, and rearranged everything, elevating the project to epic proportions with a meticulous and grandiose production approach. Lyrically the album has a pessimistic view on the future and a misanthropic feeling about present day’s society, with reflections about mental illnesses, dysfunctions of our minds and spiritual hopelessness. On the album M. Feschner plays rhythm guitar and vocals, while Libra plays drums, bass, keyboards, rhythm and lead guitars. “Tomb Absolute” also features honorable guest appearances from Nick Holmes (Paradise lost / Bloodbath), Kam Lee (Massacre), Moyses Koslene (Krisium), Leon del Muerte (Impaled / Terrorizer L.A.), Vik (Whipstriker), and Caleb Bingham (Athanasia). The result is an album that, at the same time pays homage to the glorious days of 90’s Doom and Death Metal, but also sounds completely new, in a lane of its own, and different than anything that is out there in today’s metal scene. With “Tomb Absolute”, Negative Vortex deliver uncompromised, visceral, heavy-handed music, and the promise that there is nothing but darkness and suffering at the end of the tunnel. In early 2022 Negative Vortex partnered with Sentient Ruin for a worldwide release on all formats of “Tomb Absolute” in early 2023.
