ALTAR OF GORE
New Jersey-based atmospheric bestial death metal cannibalism conceived by Acolyte of the Foul Ones, also a current, past and live member of bands like Blasphematory, Death Fortress, Siege Column and Massive Retaliation, among others. A solo endeavor of Acolyte, Altar of Gore initiated in 2017 and since then has been belting out some of the most gruesome and savage death metal carnage conceived by the American extreme metal underground in the latter half of the last decade. With influences as diverse as Beherit, Von, Demoncy, Blasphemy, Bestial Warlust, Impetigo, Carcass and Archgoat, Altar of Gore creates a unique and hypnotic form of murky and bass heavy blackened death metal with dense and perverse atmospheres and a heavy emphasis on primitivism and filth. The band's debut demo saw the light in 2018 and has been one of the most unique and underrated East Coast obscure death metal artifacts ever since. The debut LP "Obscure & Obscene Gods" saw the light on Nameless Grave Records in 2020 further establishing Altar of Gore's reputation and cult-like status as beacon of total primitive death metal barbarity, and the feat was repeated again with utmost mastery with the "Infinite Visions of Violence" demo in 2022, a third chapter which saw a predictable zero-point in any musical "progress" of sorts, if not an even more perverse and morbid drift at the opposite end toward perpetrated animalistic primitivism and acephalic musical perversion. The two demos were eventually repackaged as a CD compilation by Nameless Grave Records in 2022, and as a remastered vinyl version with an alterante title and artwork by Sentient Ruin in 2023.
