CRYPTAE: Dutch Experimental Raw Death Metal Deliriants Announce "Decrepit Collection" Vinyl Retrospective - Full Stream and Pre-Orders Available.

We are excited to work again with Cryptae, one of contemporary death metal’s most enigmatic and defiant entities who we’ve worked with ever since their first demo tape, as we ready the release of their new LP “Decrepit Collection", a retrospective vinyl compilation scheduled for release on vinyl and digital formats on September 3 2021 and pre-ordreable and streamable in full now via our Bandcamp and website shop.

"Decrepit Collection" is a glorious 12" vinyl compilation containing Cryptae’s unparalleled 2017 self titled debut demo tape on side A (for the first time ever on vinyl), and 2019's 20 minute single-track EP "Vestigal" on side B, both remastered to their their most sonically crushing form yet. This surreal artifact of complete sonic delirium revisits Cryptae's birth as an authentic error of creation and documents the early development of their hallucinatory and completely unprecedented sound as they threw derailing raw punk, spastic primitive death metal, rogue strains of underdeveloped noise and industrial and free-form improvisation into a deformed and glitched out experiment of aberrant abstract brutality.

TRACKLIST:

1. Glubroneus (05:30)
2. Ventrum (04:17)
3. Cryptae (01:47)
4. Maze (02:39)
5. Vestigial (18:49)

Cryptae made heads turn in 2017 with their insane self-titled debut demo tape, an hallucinogenic and erratic spasm of experimental raw death metal rooted in improvisation and free-form composition that instantly established them as an unpredictable and visionary anomaly in death metal. From its sophisticated minimalist and surreal aesthetic to the unclassifiable horrific music, the release instantly made the band standout as a complete absurdity in death metal, and while voluntarily cryptic and unaccessible, the demo tape was soon sold out shortly after release. The band then followed up in 2019 with “Vestigial” (released on vinyl in collaboration with Tartarus Records), a single track, twenty-minute delirium of experimental death metal improvisation that confirmed the band as a total untethered rogue entity within death metal. Debut full length LP “Nightmare Traversal" followed in 2020 to critical acclaim as the culmination of the band’s visionary experimentalism coupled with their isolationist confidence, talent and perseverance in wanting to create unheard death metal absurdities that lay on a plane of existence entirely their own. "Decrepit Collection" aims at revisiting the beginnings of the band’s creative output to re-trace and rediscover their incredible trajectory as one of the most visionary and defiant experiments in contemporary death metal.

EDENIC PAST: American Technical/Brutal Death Metal Band Feat. Members of Krallice Issue Bludgeoning Debut LP "Red Amarcord" On Vinyl Via Sentient Ruin - Pre-Orders and Full Stream Available.

We’re proud to announce that American technical brutal death metal absurdity Edenic Past join Sentient Ruin for a vinyl release of their synapse-twisting first ever LP “Red Amarcord”, to be released August 6 2021 on vinyl and digital/streaming formats worldwide. Limited colored and standard black vinyl editions are already available for pre-order, while a CD version and a tape version were already issued previously by P2 and Lifeless Chasm Records respectively.

Formed by Colin Marston and Nicholas McMaster of Krallice fame along with vocalist Paulo Paguntalan of Encenathrakh, on the surreal debut offering Edenic Past unfold an absurd and ultra-brutal hallucination of futuristic aural atavism that touches lows of knuckle-dragging sonic primitivism and brutality and peaks of masterful ambient avantgarde deconstructionism that will be both too much to handle or understand for the average “slam” knuckle brains, and too fucking brutal and ignorant for the average elitist prog nerd. Perhaps standing as the most imaginative and visionary “slamming” technical brutal death metal releases ever conceived, with “Red Amarcord” Edenic Past redefine the outer limits of brutal death metal and set an unprecedented foot in the future for the genre.

Edenic Past from New York City was conceived as an avantgarde technical brutal death metal experiment by members of Krallice during the self-imposed isolation that resulted from the 2020 worldwide COVID pandemic. It is somewhat of a puzzling and thought-provoking thing to reflect on how such an unforeseen and global medical and scientific crisis could lead to such abnormal home experiments by talented and secluded citizens with far too much free time and imagination on their hands… Yet that is where the origin of Edenic Past can be traced back to. As notorious deconstructors / reconstructors of essential musical compounds to create hyper-complex things from mere fragments, Krallice’s Colin Marston and Nicholas McMaster chose the improbable gutter-dwelling subgenre of brutal death metal ("slamming" or not) as their chosen victim for their secluded abhorrent quarantine experiment, to create a turn of events in the genre that remains one of the most astonishing and peculiar things to happen to music in 2020. Despite brutal death metal being one of extreme metal’s most outrageous and often derided styles, it didn’t take long for the notorious and skillful imagination of the musicians involved and for their out of the ordinary technical proficiency to turn the genre literally inside out, eviscerating it into something far more visionary and unpredictable than any of us could have ever imagined. The ensuing uncontrollable mutation that ravaged the essentials of the style would subvert and deconstruct it completely, reinventing and reverse-engineering completely to reanimate it as a highly advanced strain of ultra-brutal futuristic experimental technical death metal unlike anything any of us had ever heard before. Longtime vocalist and friend Paulo Paguntalan of fellow brutal sci-fi bludgeoners Encenathrakh was called in to lend vocal duties while the concept of a political and highly evolved brutal death metal project began to take shape with composition leaning ever so increasingly on the side of dark and surreal atmospheres and themes shifting to dark contemporary history, political and social tragedy, corruption, injustice, and persecution (and often death) of those who seek truth in the murky depths of bureaucratic and political power, particularly of investigative journalists, whistleblowers and political dissidents. Their debut album "Red Amarcord" took final form as a brutal and uncompromising experimental brutal death metal album packed with all the irreplaceable staples of the genre including the neanderthalian breakdowns and outrageous “vocals”, the demented song structures, and the knuckle-dragging brutality that fans have always adored about this genre and its most iconic exponents like Devourment, Wormed, Defeated Sanity, and Visceral Disgorge, but immersed into a futuristic and hallucinogenic architecture of dark lysergic atmospheres, cryptic experimentalism and surreal and oneiric soundscaping. Taking its name from the praised masterpiece from Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini, "Red Amarcord" is a highly evolved statement of arrogant and lethal experimentalism within technical brutal death metal that aims at celebrating and remembering the blood-soaked lives of all those brave souls we lost in their fearless quest for truth against injustice and oppression, by deconstructing technical avantgarde experimental music to bend it to the will of feral and mindless brutality, while conversely elevating this primeval brutality to shed its skin and serve a new purpose as enhancer in a new breed of evolved and re-(de)constructed avantgarde extreme music.

8 HOUR ANIMAL: American Harsh Post-Industrial Ruiner Unveils Bludgeoning New Album "Resigner" - Track Premiered at No Echo.

We’re excited to announce our allegiance with American one-man harsh/post-industrial deconstructor 8 HOUR ANIMAL, as we prepare the release of the act’s bludgeoning new full-length LP “Resigner”, slated for release on LP/MC/digital formats on August 6 2021 worldwide via Sentient Ruin and now pre-orderable on our webshop and Bandcamp.

To coincide with the album’s announcement, respected underground punk/alternative/experimental publication NO ECHO.net has revealed the opening track “Almost Free” calling the track “nightmare fuel”, with marked “Wax Trax meets Earache Records-like vibes”. They further elaborated that “the sound of 8 Hour Animal is a jarring one. A one-man operation whose stylistic approach invites everything from industrial to black metal to power electronics to, well, a host of other harsh points between.”. You can read their feature and check out the track HERE.

The sound of dissolving reality, shattered nerves and unraveling hope, "Resigner" is a nerve-wrecking full length offering of vitriolic post-industrial annihilation that both celebrates and re-imagines the imperious deconstructionism and experimentalism of glorious acts like Controlled Bleeding, :Wumpscut:, Wolf Eyes, Godflesh, Skinny Puppy, Skullflower, Ministry, Incapacitants, Coil and beyond. Through a masterful transfiguration of disorienting atmospherics, oppressive soundscaping and raw intensity, on "Resigner" 8 Hour Animal blurs beat-driven electronic industrial, scorching power electronics, raw punk and black metal, blackened metallic drone, dark ambient, and pure noise into an hallucinogenic and caustic forty-plus minute mechanized nightmare of pure post-industrial chaos and oblivion.

8 Hour Animal is the sound unravelling life and collapsing dreams, of fear and loss of self as flesh is dragged across broken glass. The enigmatic and mysterious one-man blackened harsh industrial entity emerged from the East coast in 2020 via a string of extremely limited home-dubbed tapes focused on abstract pummeling harsh noise wall and power electronics, but brand new sophomore album "Resigner" brings new focus and definition to the project, adding a whole new arsenal of tangible and iconic horrors to its hideous framework, as elements of classic industrial and metal make their way into band's sound taking it to a new realm of urgency and destructiveness. Written in complete loneliness and isolation "Resigner" fuses heavy grinding guitars with industrial percussion, caustic atmospherics, and walls of hateful hissing noise to paint a daunting modern design to complete self-annihilation. The lyrics dealing in self harm, despair, fear and deep self-hatred further define the self-projected sonic downfall that aims at representing the end of self, the quitting of life, the erasure of future, and the complete suppression of hope and happiness. "Resigner" is a harsh industrial weapon for complete self-eradication.

DISIMPERIUM: Portland, Oregon-Based Black/Death/Grindcore Terror Commando Unveil Pulverizing Debut EP "Malefic Obliteration" - Track Premiered at Decibel Magazine.

We’re proud and excited to seal an unholy pact with Portland OR black/death metal/grind terror commando Disimperium, as we prepare the release of their upcoming pulverizing debut EP “Malefic Obliteration”.

Featuring members of Misrule and Ascended Dead, on "Malefic Obliteration" Dismperium discharge a blinding assault of feral and merciless sonic devastation that will leave the listener crushed and disintegrated in its path. With an impenetrably dark and ultra-violent sound reminiscent of blackened death and grind war mongers like Knelt Rote, Diocletian and Heresiarch, Dismperium tap into a mysterious realm of terror to harness the quintessence of chaos and negativity, condensing years of influences and concepts into a twelve-minute terrorscape of absolute sonic tyranny.

To coincide with the EP’s announcement, the work’s self-titled opening track has been unveiled by legendary metal magazine Decibel Magazine, who in commenting the the song’s inhuman brutality have remarked that “Disimperium are a whirlwind of blackened death metal with a shot of grinding aggression, nearly pushing the sound over the sonic line into war metal territory.” and that “The EP’s title track is a perfect example of what to expect from Malefic Obliteration, taking the aforementioned sound and adding a layer of noise; the only time the listener is given a respite from the explosion of distorted riffs and blast beats is when a layer of fuzzy noise briefly takes over the song.” - you can listen to the track and check out the full feature HERE.

Track list:

1. Malefic Obliteration
2. Fuming Nexus
3. Infernal Machine

Disimperium have been in some way linked to Sentient Ruin even far before their existence. The band’s origins can be traced back to the grindcore solo project Misrule, by East Coast native and now Oregon-based multi-instrumentalist and visual artist S. Mahoney. Misrule emerged in 2018 with its debut demo tape “Forced to Suffer”, issued by Sentient Ruin to positive reviews in the wake of its ferocious and unrelenting aural attack. The success of “Forced to Suffer” lead Mahoney to seek out live members to expand the project’s scope of action beyond his home studio. This lead to a string of local musicians to be briefly involved until members of Ascended Dead and of other local extreme metal bands came in contact with the project, and the union pushed the premises into a darker and even more violent territory which prompted everyone involved to start fresh with a new name and project that would take on a life and sound of its own. The original grindcore influences coming from Knelt Rote and Vermin Womb were thus completed and enhanced by other elements inspired by black and death metal bands like Adversarial, Archgoat, and Impetuous Ritual, which lead the forging of Disimperium’s dark and inhuman aural weapon of total mass extermination.

“Malefic Obliteration” will be officially released on July 23 2021 via Sentient Ruin Worldwide on LP/MC and digital formats, accompanied by a limited edition long sleeve shirt, and all products are now pre-orderable on our webshop and Bandcamp profile.

VESSEL OF INIQUITY: UK Industrial Noise/Black-Grind Deconstructor Announces Devastating New Album "The Doorway" - Track Premiered at No Clean Singing.

We’re excited to renew our long lasting collaboration with UK-based multi-instrumentalist and solo artist A. White and announce the release of "The Doorway", a new full-length LP from his mechanized aural weapon Vessel of Iniquity. Comprising of nine blistering new cuts of total auditory annihilation and featuring staggering artwork by PBV of 夢遊病者 (Sleepwalker), "The Doorway" sees Vessel of Iniquity reach its critical mass and assume what may possibly be its most lethal, majestic, and abominable form yet. The visionary work is slated for an August 6 2021 release on LP, MC and digital formats via Sentient Ruin worldwide, all of which are now pre-ordeable on our Bandcamp and webshop, and from the band or CARGO Records in the EU.

On this new horrific experiment of overwhelming sensorial annihilation, sole mastermind A. White invokes absolute armageddon, funneling a blinding scourge of swirling atmospheric harsh industrial and lacerating abstract black metal into forty-five minutes of pure concentrated chaos. With an immanent and horrifying sense of dissolution and of total loss of control, "The Doorway" sees Vessel of Iniquity discharge a pulverizing swarm of machine gun-like drum machines, suffocating ambient dirges, ravaging harsh electronics and a maelstrom of crushing fretwork obliteration to pound complete oblivion into the listener.

To coincide with the release’s announcement, extreme metal blog NO CLEAN SINGING has unveiled the track “Dying” stating that the track is “the sound of bodies being ripped apart under the impact of an absolutely ruthless mechanized assault, a shock-and-awe campaign unmarred by nuance and unadulterated by mercy” and explaining that “A. White, has been exercising his creative impulses in various extreme and experimental ways for nearly two decades and ‘The Doorway’ will leave behind him perhaps the biggest smoking crater of underground destruction yet." You can read the full review and check out the track HERE.

British multi-instrumentalist, soundscaper, and audial deconstructor A.White has been hammering away at some of the underground’s most puzzling, obscure, and terrifying artifacts for the better part of the last two decades. Continuing the trend of never adhering to any scene or benefitting from any kind of mainstream underground exposure, through its 2017 defining self-tiled debut album, the followup LP “Void of Infinite Horror” and a string of more experimental EPs and digital releases, Vessel of Iniquity has taken the sincretisms of black metal, grindcore, and industrial noise to its most remote outer limits, establishing itself as a puzzling and unseen beacon of extremism unlike anything else existing in the underground.

CONCILIUM: Portuguese Atmospheric Raw Black/Death Metal Necromancers Reveal Tenebrous Debut Album "Desecration" - Track Premiered at Last Rites.

We’re excited to join Portuguese atmospheric raw black/death metal necromancers Concilium in the release of their first proper debut album“Desecration” , a churning spectral emanation of total and agonizing death exhaling at the edge of a decaying void, scheduled to arrive on July 2 2021 on vinyl, cassette tape and digital formats via Sentient Ruin Worldwide.

While superficially a somewhat familiar listen, a close look will reveal “Desecration” as an unprecedented listening experience, as the Portuguese duo take the listener into a realm of moods and sensations that blackened death metal had rarely, if ever, really explored before. The astounding album in fact builds upon the foundations of the so called “war metal” subgenre of blackened death metal incorporating elements into it which it had rarely before been associated to, namely depressive black metal, raw black metal, and atmospheric doom, creating the peculiar result of introducing its own unseen strain of “sad” or “depressive” atmospheric war metal. The result is a deeply moving and immersive listen full of atmosphere and textural depth, qualities you wouldn’t normally find in such violent and pestilential recordings coming from the most uncompromising and fundamentalist subgenera of black/death metal.

Leading up the release iconic underground metal blog Last Rites has revealed part of the album’s sound via an exclusive premiere of the opening track “From the Chalice”, remarking that the track “is but a gateway to the world of punishing barbaric madness that Concilium have sculpted from the ruins of crumbling nightmares” and that “the record oozes with spiritual, mental, and aural toxicity that will draw plenty of cross-appeal for fans of the suffocating horrorscapes of Portal, the eerie orthodoxy of Deathspell Omega, the twisted brutality of Cryptae, the primitive doom ritualism of Beherit and Void Meditation Cult, and the raw catatonia of Black Cilice and Pa Vesh En - the crude wine that results on Desecration is one that is bitter, intoxicating, and, above all, heavier than sin.” - you can read their full feature and check out the track HERE.

Like the bastard child of Portal, Beherit, and Black Cilice, "Desecration" levitates from pure darkness with a miasma of tortured lamentations, serpentine whispers and suffocated screams radiating from the innermost depths of torment, while an incessant outflow of sepulchral lo-fi raw black/death metal murk reverberates through the abandoned pits of buried temples and lost sepulchers materializing a truly unsettling and ominous aural nightmare. The band's masterful texturing of decaying and sulphureous black/death metal with subterranean aphotic atmospheres and a diseased sense of occult ritualism creates a lightless aural twilight that embraces the listener like a disembodied disease, giving away way to a blood-freezing (and at times even moving) out of body experience.

While a new band, Concilium are bastions of the Portuguese musical underworld, with main members N. and Vulturius having years of experience in shaping their country’s small but thriving underground to what it is today, through various campaigns and collaborations over the years that have established them as corner pieces to their scene across the rise and fall of many obscure Portuguese black and death metal bands, existing and defunct, old and new.

The album features vocal contributions from American black metal vocalist Imber, as well as masterful artwork from Portuguese occult/esoteric visual artist Belial Necroarts.

COFFIN LURKER: Dutch Extreme Doom Duo Ready Release of Inhumanly Crushing Debut LP "Foul and Defiled" - Track Unveiled at Last Rites.

Sentient Ruin is honored to partake in the abominable birth of dutch extreme doom experiment Coffin Lurker, whose overwhelmingly crushing debut LP "Foul and Defiled" is set to be released June 7 2021 on LP/MC and digital formats worldwide.

Formed by Maurice De Jong AKA Mories (Gnaw Their Tongues, Cloak of Altering, De Magia Veterum, Dodenbezweerder etc.), and Rene Aquarius (Cryptae, Dead Neanderthals, Imperial Cult, Plague Organ etc.), Coffin Lurker is a repulsive experiment begotten unto a perverse delusion of ushering doom metal beyond extremes of heaviness and horror it has never before seen or fathomed. Overwhelming and abominable in its every aspect, on their hideous debut LP "Foul and Defiled" the dutch terror-doom duo set out on a mission of terrifying extremism to take doom metal to its most harrowing consequences, crossing every threshold of extreme known, to materialize a humongous slow moving nightmare of paralyzing and horrific doom metal horror that will flatten the listener and devour them inside a nauseating void. Emanating with a monstrous and oppressive aura of total death and decay, "Foul and Defiled" is a gargantuan sepulchral abomination of subterranean megaton doom rising from an underworld of ageless and unnameable death and suffering that sonically aims to re-evoke the hideous and death-obsessed immensity of other underground extreme/experimental doom abominations like Moss and Grave Upheaval, while taking the heinous formula, if possible, even beyond its own already incomprehensible and remote confines of sanity.

A taste of the destabilizing album has been brought to us via an exclusive premiere of the track “Of Suffering” at iconic underground metal blog Last Rites, who in reflecting on the albums absurd heaviness and ugliness have aptly remarked that“ ‘Foul And Defiled’ stylistically nests itself snugly between the juggernaut crawl of death/doom, the ritualistic atmosphere of primitive black metal, and the dirging, somber tones of funeral doom. This skeleton is fully cloaked in static nightmares, lacing the claustrophobic soundscape with subtle pops and etchings that will have the listener jumping at shadows for its full duration.“ - you can read the full feature and stream the track HERE.

Coffin Lurker is the rogue brainchild of dutch musicians Maurice De Jong AKA Mories (Gnaw Their Tongues, Cloak of Altering, De Magia Veterum, Dodenbezweerder etc.), and Rene Aquarius (Cryptae, Dead Neanderthals, Imperial Cult, Plague Organ etc.). As seen with their preexisting respective projects and the natural inclination of the musicians involved, the connecting thread in Coffin Lurker is also pure and unbridled experimentalism and attempting to break new ground by reshaping and reinterpreting familiar sounds through the lens of near homicidal extremism and deviant deconstructionism. In this sense the duo set out in a perverse plan to take doom metal to extremes it has never before seen, by adding ulterior shapes and dimensions to the foundations already set by doom metal’s most extreme bands ever, namely entities like Grave Upheaval, Moss, Corrupted, Hell, Meth Drinker, Tyranny, Sunn O))), Encoffination, Primitive Man, along with more experimental and outlandish extreme metal entities like Ride For Revenge, Profanatica and Void Meditation Cult. Extending doom’s path into a dark future unknown, in Coffin Lurker everything got more extreme in every aspect possible: atmospheres more antihuman and overwhelming, guitars more downtuned, layered and crushing than ever before, tempos crawling at the edge of oblivion and nearly frozen to a suffocating stasis, soundscapes and song structures overbearingly cold and oppressive slowed down to a mechanical aural entombment reminiscent of certain extreme strains of industrial music, death-doom vocals reaching inhuman low registers bellowed out from guts turned inside out, and of course steeping piles of hatred, nihilism, disgust, misanthropy and all-encompassing negativity to round out an experiment of both familiar yet aberrant and futuristic traits. On these premises during 2020 the band patiently and carefully crafted their debut LP aptly titled "Foul and Defiled" which in its inhumanly overbearing traits of extremism and experimentalism was surely destined to cross path with Sentient Ruin, which will issue the abominable work on June 7 2021 on LP/MC and digital formats worldwide.

DECOHERENCE: UK/US Industrial Black Metal Deconstructors Reveal Immense Third LP "System I" - Entire Work Premiered in Full at Pop Matters

We’re proud and excited to announce a new chapter in our long lasting partnership with UK/US industrial black metal void-sculptors Decoherence, as we ready the release of their imposing third album “System I”, to be released officially on LP/MC/digital formats worldwide on May 21 2021. All formats are now pre-ordeable on our Bandcamp and web shop.

Because most of the tracks that comprise “System I” date back to 2020 the album has been made available in full today in occasion of Bandcamp Friday, and the entire album was reveled by Pop Matters in an exclusive premiere, where they explain that these tracks “showcase a further evolution on the Decoherence sound, a pristine and poignant unraveling of their identity. While retaining much of their black metal core, Decoherence would strive towards a disfigured post-punk direction, at the same time boosting their industrial influence.“ - you can read the full feature and listen to the album HERE.

"System I" is a 12" vinyl, digital and cassette tape full-length album/”compilation” of all the band's recent digital only singles and EPs, remastered to their final and ultimate form along with a glorious and previously unreleased cover rendition of Killing Joke's classic cut "The Wait". While these tracks were previously already digitally (self)released, don't be fooled or misled to think you're hearing any "b-sides" or otherwise "left over" material, rather, consider "System I" not only the righteous third official full-length album from the band, but also by far Decoherence's most visionary, cohesive, and imposing songs to date.

Awe-inducing and ghastly in its enveloping immensity, the tracks on "System I" see the enigmatic multinational black metal band morph into their most defiant and commanding form yet, as they construct an impenetrable mechanized swarm of liquefying industrial hallucinations and swirling dissonance that eradicates the listener from their corporeal and terrestrial self to cast them at the edge of a light-devouring void. Stylistically "System I" sees Decoherence's sound still thrive and evolve within the familiar synthetic black metal deconstructionist framework of progenitors like Blut Aus Nord and Darkspace, but as the Killing Joke cover included unmistakably hints at, these tracks also reveal a marked shift for the band toward a more unintelligible, unpredictable, and ominous immateriality, as elements incorporated from post-punk and experimental industrial assume stronger delineations adding ulterior dimensions and identities to the band's already alien and otherworldly sound.
