VENENO

Demented raw blackened hardcore punk band from Buenos Aires, Argentina formed around 2017 as a conduit for absolute filth, abjection and refusal of society and of humanity in its current perpetrated state. Veneno was formed by veterans of their local art and music scene, “punks” into early black metal like Bathory and Hellhammer, as well as into pioneers of absolute punk filth from Sweden like Tötalitar and Anticimex or from Japan like Zouo, G.I.S.M., Lipcream, The Comes, etc. Early influences also include hardcore legends like Misfits/Danzig, Cro-Mags, Youth of Today etc, as well as various artistic and literary currents throughout the decades who’ve contributed to the creation of so called “thought provoking” music with a counter-current and highly conceptual identity. Veneno first emerged in 2018 with the filth-laden “Onamuhni” demo self-released on Bandcamp; a spastic slab of gnarled and deformed raw blackened hardcore punk spewn out of the gutters of total nihilism and refusal. This release immediately introduced the band as a conceptual art collective type entity with an experimental musical edge, thought provoking lyrics and dark, quirky minimalist artwork by vocalist Bruno Danza heavily influenced by decades of comic book and underground cinema subcultures. The “Justicia Argentina” 7” EP soon followed in 2020 released by NYC underground punk label Planeta Destrozado, showcasing a marked evolution for the band in every aspect possible, mainly in the production value of the music as well as in Danza’s dark and enigmatic artwork. The evolution continued to an even higher degree with the “Camino de Espinas” demo tape, a glorious six-minute slab of abstract and demented black punk encrustment highly reminiscent of Hellhammer and G.I.S.M. With its gross and derailing sound and unique artwork, this was the release which caught the eye and ear of Sentient Ruin, which subsequently truck a deal with the band to reissue the “Camino de Espinas” demo tape for western audiences with alternate artwork as well as with a plan to release new music for the band in the following months.
